What You Need to Know

Ms. Wellen has been a practicing licensed hypnotherapist for over 30 years.  She explains that hypnosis has been defined as a state of heightened suggestibility during which the individual, with Toni’s guidance, is able to uncritically accept their own ideas for self-improvement and act on them appropriately.
The hypnotic experience feels like those moments between waking and sleeping.  Everyone is suggestible and therefore, in theory, everyone can be hypnotized.  The time required for achieving hypnosis or self-hypnosis varies from person to person, 15 to 20 minutes.  With Toni’s guidance during the hypnotic state, the person is always aware of what is going on.  They hear what is said and follow directions from the therapist.  Importantly, during the hypnosis session, the person does not surrender their will or is controlled by Toni as the hypnotherapist.
Can anyone be hypnotized?  With very few exceptions, anyone who wants to be hypnotized, can be.  The opposite is also true—if you do not want to be hypnotized you will not be.  It is essentially a matter of cooperation and trust between Toni, the therapist and the individual.  The client and the therapist engage in considerable conversation regarding the goals the client wants to achieve.
Toni describes the hypnosis experience as follows:
“Envision yourself as relaxed, comfortable and positive in the face of anxiety, despair, addiction and pain.”
Sadly, common feelings, illnesses and problems can become overwhelming, affecting anyone’s happiness and physical health.  There are crisis moments in life when you feel overwhelmed, helpless and lack answers to your problems.  Everyone needs a “time-out” to review and refresh.  Hypnosis and mindfulness techniques will help you discover the solutions you need but haven’t considered.  Toni has many years and considerable experience assisting individuals with hypnosis instruction to successfully overcome stress, crises, depression, anxiety, and illness.
Life disrupting issues can be overcome using hypnotherapy, such as insomnia, abuse, self-esteem and anger management.  Hypnosis is successful in overcoming serious addictions to nicotine, alcohol and drug abuse.
Hypnotherapy is a reality-based practice approach in combination with positive empathy and respect.  Additionally, instruction in self-hypnosis can considerably improve outcomes in many surgical procedures and is successful in easing the birthing experience and post-partum depression.
